Central Asia Mining Forum 15-21.9.2024
We will organise a Business and Familiarisation Trip to Central Asian Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan focusing on the mining sector in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, Mining Finland, the Uzbek Chamber of European Commerce, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan and Mr. Petri Numminen, Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan 15–21.9.2024. The trip will be led by Finland’s Ambassador for Central Asia, Mr. Ilkka Räisänen.
During the trip, you will learn about the business opportunities in the Central Asian mining sector, partners, authorities, ongoing and future national and international projects, and project financiers. During the trip, you will visit Tashkent, Almaty and Bishkek, all of which will provide an opportunity to meet local mining and other operators in the industry. In addition, the “29th Central Asian International Mining Exploration & Mining Equipment Exhibition” in Almaty will be visited during the trip.
Additionally, we will meet with the staff of the EU delegations in these countries. Discussions will cover the EU strategy concerning critical raw materials (CRM) and logistics between Europe and Central Asia.
All three target countries are significant mining countries in Central Asia, and their business environment also enables Finnish companies to operate. In addition to traditional mining, it is expected that there will be plenty of opportunities for Finnish expertise in environmental issues. The green transition and the management of natural resources according to the principles of sustainable development are topical issues in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In all these countries, extractive industries generate a significant share of the national economy’s income and their development is under pressure. Many Finnish companies have been active in the area for a long time, and recently Finns have conquered new markets in Central Asia, especially in minimizing the harmful effects of mining.
In all three target countries, business has developed positively in recent years, and the demand for Western technology is growing strongly.
